Palembang Historical Monument

Hello everyone, back to Risa's blog, today we are going to see one of the historical places in Palembang, namely MONPERA (Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat).

Monpera was built to commemorate the event, the elders of the independence fighters of the Republic of Indonesia in the South Sumatra region who are members of the South Sumatra Veterans Legion took the initiative to build a memorial monument.

The construction of the Monpera museum itself began in 1980 until 1988 in stages using the South Sumatra Level I Government Budget. On February 23, 1988, the Menpora Museum was inaugurated by Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare H. Alamsyah Ratu Prawiranegara.

The shape of Monpera resembles a jasmine flower with five crowns. Melati symbolizes the purity of the hearts of the fighters, while the five sides represent the five residential areas that are members of the South Sumatra Sub-Commandment. Monpera also has a unique shape, there is a large eagle statue on the wall and underneath it is written the function and meaning of the architecture.

Monpera itself is located on Jalan Merdeka, exactly opposite the Great Mosque of Palembang, South Sumatra.

In Monpera there are various historical collections related to the events of the Palembang people's struggle against the Second Dutch Military Aggression. There are 368 collections at the Monpera Museum which consist of 178 photos of documentation, heroes' official attire and weapons used such as pistols, juki kanju, fiat, puzzles, dantos, sunan cannon kecepek, dten MK IV, double lop, sabil swords, land mines .
In addition, there are also 568 collections of books, both struggle books and general books. Not only that, the Monpera Museum keeps half-body statues of heroes such as Dr. A. K. Gani, Drg. M. Isa, H. Abdul Rozak, Bambang Utoyo, Hasan Kasim, Harun Sohar and H. Barlian. Then there are also currencies that are collected at the Monpera Museum, namely the VOC, Dutch East Indies and Japanese (ORI) currencies.

In addition, various kinds of facilities are available here, such as a children's play area, and a photo spot. Here I share a few photos that I got when I visited MONPERA
